LeaderFest is an annual whole day event run by MD2MD, primarily for its members and open to other business leaders, aimed at enabling experienced real leaders to share what they have learnt with other real leaders with different experiences and at different stages of their career.
The venue for LeaderFest 2014 was the glorious Witney Lakes Resort, in the Prime Minister’s consituency of Witney.
Past LeaderFest panels have included a wide range of business leaders. Some of those leaders interviewed were from large businesses, both ‘corporate’, such as the leader of EMEA for Harley-Davidson, and entrepreneurial such as Mike Clare who built the Dreams Bed store chain and sold it for a rumoured £230M shortly before the recession hit. Complelmenting those large businesses other panelists have included Val King, whose Rooflight Company outplays the elephant of their industry through delivering great design, quality and service, and from innovative small entrepreneurial businesses such as Graffitti Life, led by David Speed who says he decided he’d rather find a way to earn a living from his hobby of Graffiti Art than get locked up like his mates.
In 2014 the panel will include the former Managing Director of Rover Group Cars, a main board director of Rank Hovis responsible for the development of the Mr Kipling brand, and an entrepreneur who has succeeded despite challenges others might see as limiting. The event is compèred by a business leader who successfully sold his catering business last year and the panel are interviewed by someone who swims with sharks as a hobby!
